On 9 October 2026, Denmark restarted the permanent residence and family reunification cases it had paused since 8 September 2026 (Danish Immigration Service).
On 9 October 2026 the Danish Immigration Service said it is again processing applications for permanent residence and certain family reunification cases (applications to join a family member in Denmark). It had stopped work on them on 8 September 2026 because of an error in the Criminal Register, Denmark’s central register of criminal records, which is checked in these applications. The National Police now judge that the effect of the error on the register is very limited. No rule for these permits has changed, and the notice does not say how long the paused cases will now take.
